Medical Marijuana Dispensary

  What Is A
Medical Marijuana Dispensary?

A Medical Marijuana Dispensary, for the purposes of this blog, is a licensed business with legal rights granted by the Medical Marijuana State in which they operate to dispense Medical Marijuana products to eligible patients.

Simply put, Medical Marijuana Dispensaries act as the pharmacy for Medical Marijuana Patients and are tightly controlled.

Medical Marijuana Dispensaries must purchase the products they offer to customers, from licensed state sanctioned growers and manufacturers. Just like any other industry, the products they inventory vary in quality, variety and cost. In states that allow Medical Marijuana Dispensaries to show a profit, some states only allow non profit or not for profit organizations to operate one, this competition between suppliers is good for the Dispensary and patients alike by keeping costs to a manageable level.

Inventory is tightly controlled and accounted for in accordance with state laws, and in most states product sales to individual customers are tracked in order to control the quantity purchased by the patient over a given period of time. Most states have limitations on how much Medical Marijuana a patient is allowed to purchase during a 14 day to 1 month segment of time, the same as any controlled prescription issued by a Pharmacist.

What to expect when visiting a Medical Marijuana Dispensary.

When using a Medical Marijuana Dispensary for the first time, you should expect the same as using any pharmacy for the first time. You will have to provide your prescription or Medical Marijuana Card as proof of your legal authority to purchase Medical Marijuana in that state.[Some states allow out of state card holders to purchase. Click to visit the Medical Marijuana Card page] Once you have given the prescription to one Dispensary, in most states, you will not be able to purchase from another without first transferring your account out of the first location, like a prescription at a Pharmacy. This way your purchase record is known by the new location.

Take the time to judge for yourself if the Medical Marijuana Dispensary looks like a clean, organized, and professionally run business. You would not fill your other prescriptions in a business that appears to be other than a legitimate, trustworthy and clean operation so don't settle for less with your Medical Marijuana Prescription either.

Once you have decided to do business with a Medical Marijuana Dispensary, explain your medical condition and inquire about all the options available to you. Based on your personal needs, a well trained and knowledgeable employee should be able to offer several choices to you and should explain their product differences in effect and even amounts required to achieve your medical goals.

  1. Yes, cannabis can be abused and can be psychologically habituating but the degree of “addiction” or the harm done is astronomically less than many prescription drugs and certainly far less than alcohol, tobacco, cocaine, or heroin.

    1. medical cannabis dispensaries,
Well said. More people on both sides of the issue need to come to that very real understanding. Shouting to the world that it is a magical cure-all does more harm to the cause they obviously are passionate about. But, those who feel that marijuana has no place in medicine are simply holding on to old school teachings and propaganda. They have either come to believe that drugs like opium and cocaine have a better place in medicine or they are simply ignorant of that fact. Research is so easy these days.
PS. Your blog is fantastic and I will recommend that everyone checks your link.

About Me

My photo
I am a disabled middle age American who suffers with severe back injuries that cause constant pain. I am a Medical Marijuana Patient and a Medical Marijuana Advocate. Although I am constantly stereotyped by those who are misinformed, I am not a POTHEAD nor a PARTIER. I do not abuse my prescription nor do I sell or give medication to others. I simply choose to relieve my pain without more pills, and it works.
